Football betting rules at Awash Bet
These Awash Bet football betting rules explain how football bet settlement works, including normal time, extra time, penalties and interrupted matches. They cover pre-match and live betting for adult players in Ethiopia.
Before placing a bet, check the market name, the period of play covered, the match status and any special conditions in the bet slip. Where a specific market differs from this general guide, the conditions shown for that market take priority, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.
Awash Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. This guide should be read alongside those rules; it does not replace them.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
Most football markets are settled on 90 minutes plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within each half. It is part of normal time.
Extra time is different: it is an additional playing period used in some knockout matches. Extra time and penalty shootouts are not included in a standard 90-minute market unless the market rules clearly say otherwise.
- Match Result / 1X2: usually the home win, draw or away win after normal time.
- Double Chance: usually covers two of those three normal-time outcomes.
- Total Goals: usually counts goals scored in normal time against the selected over or under line.
- Handicap: usually applies the stated goal adjustment to the normal-time score; the handicap format determines settlement.
- Both Teams to Score: usually requires each team to score during normal time.
Do not assume that “full time” means the end of extra time. Check the period stated in the market.
When extra time counts
Extra time counts only when the market includes it. Look for wording such as “including extra time” or check the conditions for “To Qualify”, “Winner of Tie”, “Team to Lift the Trophy” and “Outright Winner”. An outright winner market concerns the winner of a competition rather than a single normal-time match.
A bet on Team A to qualify may include extra time and penalties if the rules say so. A standard Team A to win — 1X2 bet normally covers only 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A team can therefore progress in a competition without winning its 1X2 market.
For a two-leg tie, check whether the selection concerns one match or qualification across both legs.
How penalties are settled
A penalty taken during play is not the same as a penalty shootout. A successful penalty during normal time counts as a match goal for markets covering that period. A penalty scored during extra time counts only for markets that include extra time.
A penalty shootout is a separate sequence used to decide a tied contest. Under standard penalty shootout betting rules:
- Shootout goals do not affect 90-minute Match Result, Both Teams to Score or Total Goals markets.
- Shootout goals are normally excluded from match goal totals, even where extra time is included, unless expressly stated otherwise.
- The shootout outcome may decide qualification, trophy or outright markets where their rules include it.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A cancelled match will not take place as scheduled. A postponed match is moved to a later time. An abandoned match starts but stops before completion. These situations can have different settlement rules.
Applicable completion deadline: [Insert the compliance-approved Awash Bet deadline for postponed or resumed matches, including when the deadline starts and any competition-specific exceptions.] Do not assume that a 24-, 48- or 72-hour rule applies.
- Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be void unless the applicable rules provide another treatment.
- Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the match takes place within the published deadline; otherwise, the relevant voiding rule applies.
- Abandoned after starting: unsettled markets may be void if the match is not completed within that deadline. Markets already unconditionally decided may stand where the rules allow.
- Resumed later: check whether the rules cover continuation from the stopped score and time, or a replay starting from zero.
- Result changed after the final whistle: settlement or resettlement depends on the result-correction provisions, not automatically on a later disciplinary decision.
- Incorrect event details: an incorrect date, team or market may require review under the error provisions. An error does not automatically guarantee either payment or a refund.
A void bet is treated as having no winning or losing outcome. For a void single bet, the stake is normally returned. In an accumulator, a void selection is normally removed from the calculation rather than causing the whole stake to be refunded. Check the applicable rules for exceptions.
Live football betting settlement
In Awash Bet live, odds and market availability can change quickly. Submitting a bet does not necessarily mean it has been accepted: live bets may face a processing delay.
A goal, red card, penalty decision, VAR review or dangerous attack may trigger a football odds change or market suspension, meaning betting on that market is temporarily paused. An unconfirmed request may remain pending, be rejected or require acceptance of updated odds, depending on the displayed settings.
Check the accepted bet record rather than relying on a live score display. Live information can be delayed, and settlement may wait for confirmed event data.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
The odds shown while browsing are not confirmation of an accepted bet. The odds recorded on the accepted bet are the basis for settlement, subject to the published error and correction rules.
If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer a new price or reject the request. Review any odds-change setting in your bet slip, especially if it allows updated odds to be accepted automatically.
Before confirming, check the selection, stake, market period and odds. Afterwards, check the bet status. A rejected bet is not an accepted wager; a pending request should not be treated as confirmed.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR, the video assistant referee review process, can overturn goals or change penalty and card decisions. Markets may be suspended while the decision is reviewed. A goal initially displayed on screen may not count in the confirmed result.
Football betting settlement rules rely on the confirmed data relevant to each market, including official match reports or the designated data source. A technical display error or incorrect data feed may require investigation.
If data changes after settlement, any correction must follow the applicable Terms and Conditions. Do not assume that every later correction changes a settled bet, or that settlement can never be revised.
Player, cards and corners markets
- Cards: check whether cards to substitutes, substituted players, coaches or other bench personnel count. Treatment of second yellow cards and cards after the final whistle also depends on the market.
- Corners: markets generally count officially awarded and taken corners. Check the specific treatment of awarded but untaken corners and retakes.
- Player participation: a player bet may be void if the player does not take part. Some markets require a starting appearance; others allow participation as a substitute.
- Player goals: own goals are normally excluded from an individual scorer’s total, although they can count towards match goals.
Check the specific market rules before placing a bet. Do not assume that every player or statistics market uses the same participation conditions or data source.
Examples of football bet settlement
- Scenario: Team A draws 1–1 after 90 minutes, then wins in extra time.
- Settlement: a standard 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A loses. The normal-time result is a draw.
- Scenario: the match remains 0–0 through extra time, and Team B wins the shootout.
- Settlement: a 90-minute Total Goals Over 0.5 bet loses. Shootout goals do not count for that market.
- Scenario: the match is cancelled before kick-off.
- Settlement: the bet may be void with the single-bet stake returned, subject to the applicable cancellation rule.
- Scenario: a live bet is submitted during a VAR review.
- Settlement: the request may remain pending, require updated odds or be rejected. Only the confirmed accepted bet establishes the wager.
- Scenario: Team A advances after a penalty shootout.
- Settlement: a Team A “To Qualify” bet wins if its rules include the shootout and Team A is confirmed as qualifying.
